C.S. Lewis Study Group

If you would like to be a part of a C.S. Lewis study  group, please email Pastor Jonathan at jmarlowe@mtzionumc.net.  This is a study group based in High Point, but we are meeting by Zoom on the first Thursday of each month at 7 PM.  We don't assume any previous knowledge of C.S. Lewis, just a desire to read and learn. Our purpose is simply "to deepen our Christian faith by a study of the life and works of C.S. Lewis."   This study group is for all who wish a better union of heart and mind regarding the classic Christian faith.  At our first meeting on Sept. 3 at 7 PM, we will discuss C.S. Lewis' book, Surprised by Joy.  If you don't have time to read this book before the first meeting, you can still participate just by listening if you would like.

Announcing a new Women’s Bible study for the fall!

Join us as we explore the biblical texts surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus. This 6 week study will trace the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem and the visit of the Magi. We will connect these stories from the Gospels to the Old Testament, the role of women in the first century Jewish culture and many other interesting aspects of the Christmas story. The name of this study is Light of the World by Amy-Jill Levine. We will meet on Tuesday mornings, starting October 6, at 10:00-11:30 AM in the Family Life Center. Books are available in the church library for $15. Call the church office to schedule a pick up of the book. You will need to bring your mask. If you have further questions, you may contact Ann Dutton, Jeannette Koch or Susie Crump. We look forward to preparing for Advent through new eyes! We ask that all participants read pgs.9-32 prior to the first session.
