SANCTUARY COUNSELOR ASSIGNED TO MT. ZION

The Sanctuary Counseling Group has assigned Mt. Zion a new counselor, Melanie Bennett. Melanie is a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro

and her Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health.

Melanie works with women, men, young adults, teens (14+), and couples through a trauma-informed lens. She is passionate about providing quality care to underserved communities in which she provides culturally sensitive counseling to the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community. Melanie specializes in working with BIPOC women and teen girls who are struggling with trauma (childhood, domestic violence, and PTSD), anxiety, depression, self-esteem, shame, and relationship issues.

Melanie's work with clients often aligns with that of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), in which she collaboratively works with clients to help them learn how to incorporate skills into their lives that will help them process and healthily navigate painful thoughts and feelings. Based on her client’s specific strengths and needs, she integrates components of person-centered, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and solution-focused brief therapies to ensure that her cli- ents receive the quality care they deserve. Her daily goal is to provide clients with a safe, nonjudgmental space that nurtures their healing journey.
