the Bible Year

Have you ever wanted to read through the Bible? Now is your chance to join with the entire congregation of Mt. Zion as we take on this challenge for 2023.  We will be using a program called "The Bible Year." All of the details can be found below and on the church website.

The Bible Year encourages us to read the Bible together.

The Bible Year encourages us to read the Bible in its entirety.

The Bible Year reminds us to take the Bible seriously, without having to take all of it literally.

The Bible Year helps us read the Bible hopefully.

The Bible Year helps us read the Bible regularly.

bible

Any Bible can be used for the Bible Year. Two of the most popular modern translations are the NRSV and the NIV. The NRSV is usually the translation we use in our worship services at Mt. Zion. If you would like to buy a new Bible for this year with the Bible, you might consider The NRSV Daily Bible. It has 365 daily readings that correspond exactly with our reading schedule, and it also has brief devotionals with each reading. It is available through Amazon here.

What if I like to listen to the Bible?

If you prefer to listen to the Bible each day, you may wish to purchase The Holy Bible: New Revised Standard Version: Anglicized Edition. It is available through Audible and can be purchased here.

daily  Reading Plan

At the heart of The Bible Year is a daily Bible reading, approximately 2-3 chapters per day depending on the book and the length of the chapters. The average daily reading takes 15 minutes. The daily list can be found monthly in the church newsletter, in the narthex and on The Bible Year tab of the website.
