A Stephen Ministry Church

Worship is the heart of what we, as the church are all about. The goal of our sacramental life and various ways of proclaiming Christ as
Sovereign and Savior is to reach a wide variety of persons. Indeed, with St. Paul, we attempt to “become all things to all people
in order to win some to Christ.”

Towards this end, Mt. Zion offers 3 services each Sunday, with differing
outward styles and yet rooted in the “whole counsel
of the Word of God.”

- Our 8:30 AM service offers the sacrament of communion each Sunday to all who wish to receive it,
regardless of their denominational heritage and church membership status.

- Our 9:45 AM service, which meets in the Stough Family Life Center, features contemporary Christian music, informal dress
styles and upbeat tempo all the while using the timeless riches our tradition, such as the Lord's Prayer, communion and occasional creeds.
The Praise Team participates in the 9:45 AM service.

- Our 11:00 AM service features our chancel choir and often children or hand bell ensembles. It is traditional
in nature, but always stirring in offering the full grandeur and "holy experience" of a service agelessly grounded.

In order to use the “whole counsel of the Word of God” all of the Mt. Zion services are based on the Lectionary - an
ancient tradition of dividing up all the narrative portions of the Bible in a three-year period. The gospel lessons
all reflect the Christian season, which in and of itself teaches the life of Christ (Advent-the Christ is expected; Christmas-the Christ
is born; Epiphany-the Christ is for all the world's people; Lent-the Christ came to reconcile us to God, Easter-the Christ Arose,
defeating sin and death; Pentecost-the Holy Spirit comes so that the Church may be as Christ on earth). All of the services
and sermons are planned and freshly designed from the Word of God and with the purpose of sharing Christ in this manner.

From time to time, the Mt. Zion church celebrates great events in people's lives such as baptism, confirmation, vocation and major events.
I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people I will praise you.
