Service Times

Sunday Morning Worship Times: 8:30, 9:45, & 11:00 AM.  Click each time for more details.  Each service lasts about one hour.  The same sermon is preached at all 3 services each Sunday.

A Nursery/Childcare is provided for children ages infants through 2 years old from 8:20 am - 12:00 noon, each Sunday, staffed by two paid caregivers plus adult volunteers from our church family. This nursery gives parents the choice of attending any of our three worship services or an adult Sunday School class. In addition, a nursery/childcare is provided during the 11:00 worship service for children ages 2-4 years old.

Mt. Zion UMCWorship is the heart of what we, as the church are all about. The goal of our sacramental life and various ways of proclaiming Christ as Sovereign and Savior is to reach a wide variety of persons. Indeed, with St. Paul, we attempt to “become all things to all people in order to win some to Christ.”

Towards this end, Mt. Zion offers 3 services each Sunday, with differing outward styles and yet rooted in the “whole counsel of the Word of God.”

  • 8:30 AM Traditional Worship Service - Located in the Sanctuary, this service offers the sacrament of communion each Sunday to all who wish to receive it, regardless of their denominational heritage and church membership status.  There is also special music at this service on some Sundays, including solos and hand bell ensembles.

  • 11:00 Worship service
    Rev. Bailey preaching.
  • 9:45 AM Praise and Worship Service -  Located in the Stough Family Life Center/Gym, this service features the Praise Team using contemporary Christian music, informal dress styles and upbeat tempo all while using the timeless riches of our tradition, such as the Lord's Prayer, occasional creeds, and the sacrament of communion on the first Sunday of every month.

  • 11:00 AM Traditional Worship Service - Located in the Sancutary, this service features our chancel choir each week and often children or hand bell ensembles.  It is traditional in nature, but always stirring in offering the full grandeur and "holy experience" of a service agelessly grounded.  The sacrament of communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month.

In order to use the “whole counsel of the Word of God” all of the Mt. Zion services are based on the Lectionary - an Bible Lectionary ancient tradition of dividing up all the narrative portions of the Bible in a three-year period.  The gospel lessons all reflect the Christian season, which in and of itself teaches the life of Christ (Advent-the Christ is expected; Christmas-the Christ is born; Epiphany-the Christ is for all the world's people; Lent-the Christ came to reconcile us to God, Easter-the Christ Arose, defeating sin and death; Pentecost-the Holy Spirit comes so that the Church may be as Christ on earth).  All of the services and sermons are planned and freshly designed from the Word of God and with the purpose of sharing Christ in this manner.  To view lectionary readings from The Revised Common Lectionary, click here.

I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people I will praise you.
