On the 3rd Sunday of each month, a group of people from the 8:30 & 9:45 worship services go out for brunch together at around 11am for food and fellowship. Each month they go to a different local restaurant. Anyone is welcome to attend and there is no need to RSVP. Tables are reserved each month and you merely have to show up and ask for the Mt. Genesis Youth Liturgical Dance - Grades 6 through 12

The dance ensemble's purpose is to promote creative expression through the art of liturgical and expressive dance, and to provide an alternate language for worship. Our goal is to include dancers of all ages in an intergenerational experience.

Cherubs Choir - Ages 3 and 4 years old - Rehearsals: Sundays - 5:30 - 6:20 pm (September through May) on the 2nd Floor of the Education Building.

Our preschoolers learn songs in a play and praise atmosphere. They also participate in group rhythm activities and games and periodically sing for Sunday morning worship services and special children's music events.

Jubilate Choir - Ages 5 years old through First Grade - Rehearsals: Sundays - 5:30 - 6:20 pm (September through May) on the 2nd Floor of the Education Building.

Jubilate sings periodically for Sunday morning worship services and special children's programs. These young singers will develop their concept of pitch and tone production and learn about the Bible and worship through music.

Choristers Choir - Grades 2 through 5 - Rehearsals: Sundays - 5:30 - 6:20 pm (September through May) in the Choir Room on the lower level of the Sanctuary.

Choristers begin to read music as they learn anthems and service music for Sunday morning worship services and special choir programs. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a yearly musical.

Genesis Youth Arts - Grades 6 through 12.

Drama, like music and the other arts, is a valuable tool for enhancing our understanding of the Word of God. This group will be involved regularly in worship to help communicate the message to the congregation. From short monologues to plays, your acting and writing talent can grow and develop at Mt. Zion.

Babygarten - Spring 2012 Monday Class

BABYGARTEN - For Infants from birth through 18-months.

Babygarten was designed by two librarians who were concerned that young children might not be receiving the exposure to language needed to become competent readers. Babygarten is much more than a play group! Infants and their caregivers will share nursery rhymes, songs, and books. Also participants will get a chance to make fun projects that demonstrate the babies’ developmental milestones-usually a homemade toy or a baby book item. Many projects will emphasize the importance of reading to babies AND parents will learn how to do this most effectively. Each class will conclude with a free play period and opportunity for care givers to share with each other. This course will run six weeks each season. The class will meet in Room 203 of the Education Building. You may enter at the ramp to the second floor. There is no fee for this class.

Please join us Sunday, May 20 for our Homecoming Celebration as we celebrate the 185th anniversary of the birth of the Mt. Zion congregation. During the 11am worship service, there will be the Kirkin' O' the Tartans. Following the 11am service, please gather on the front lawn for a time of fellowship. Each family is invited to bring a picnic lunch.

Music by Heaven’s Reign at 1 pm. Children of all ages are welcome to join the youth on the front lawn for some classic good "ole-timey” games such as: Sack Race, Three-legged race, Wheelbarrow race, Leapfrog, Jump rope, Hopscotch, and Marbles.

Announcing the third annual STOP HUNGER NOW event at Mt. Zion, Saturday, June 2, from 9:30 am until Noon sponsored by the boys and girls in our 4^th and 5^th grade Sunday School class. You can help with this effort by donating funds and by working at the packaging event. Rice, dehydrated vegetables, vitamin powder and dehydrated soy product will be sealed into plastic bags and sent to schools, orphanages and disaster sites in 79 countries. Ages 7 – 100 can help. A 25 cent donation provides one meal. In the past two years the people of Mt. Zion donated over $13,000 to provide over 52,000 meals for hungry people in Central America and Sierra Leone. Zion are invited to be a part of our graduate recognition on Sunday, June 3 at the 9:45 contemporary service or the 11:00 traditional service. Please bring (and wear) your cap and gown. Meet at the entrance of the gym at 9:30 for the contemporary worship service. For the 11:00 worship service, meet on the front steps of the Sanctuary at 10:30.

A special bulletin insert with information on graduates will be prepared, but we must have this information by May 23. Please include: Name of graduate, names of parents, school or college from which you are receiving your diploma, degree earned, any honors, extracurricular activities, service events or church involvement that you wish to list, and future plans. Mt. Zion has been participating in ASP, a youth mission project, for over 20 years. This is our summer high school youth mission trip where we go to the mountains to help make homes warmer, safer, and drier. We also build relationships with the families and get to know other volunteers from all over the U.S. No construction skills are necessary, just a willingness to serve. This year we will be going the week of June 17-23rd and have 21 spots available, but they are going fast. So if you are a rising 9th grader (and will be at least 14 years old) or older and would like to go, we have a NEW SIGN UP. We need a $50 commitment to reserve your spot and we need it by October 27! Sing, Ring, Create and Play

Rising 1st through Rising 5^th graders; July 9 -13, 2012; 9 am – Noon.

Each day we will have activities that include devotion, hand bells, singing, art, drama and recreation. The campers will also participate in the 11:00 am worship service on Sunday, July 15th. We are planning a trip to South Africa in August 2012. On this mission trip we will teach Bible Club, feed orphans, play with children, visit orphan families as we share clothing and food, join the mobile nurses clinic to help with tenant workers and present the gospel to the unwed mothers group. The accommodations are at a local mission school in comfortable surroundings. We take most meals at the school and plan all mission activities from there. This is a life changing trip. It is an opportunity to love on orphans, to see how blessed we live in the United States and how little it takes to make a child smile who has nothing. Please email Dana Bolch for more information.

Trip to the Holy Land. A journey through the Biblical land is a spiritual trip that I was fortunate to take 2 years ago. I now want to offer this opportunity to my fellow members at Mt. Zion. The trip is a 10-day guided trip that visits the Galilee area, Mount Beatitudes, a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Megiddo, Caesarea, Jericho, Qumran and Jerusalem. One day is an optional tour of Masada and the Dead Sea or another day on your own in Jerusalem.The departure date is 2/26/13 with a return date of 3/7/13.
