Children

 A Nursery/Childcare is provided for children ages infants through 2 years old from 8:20 am - 12:00 noon, each Sunday, staffed by two paid caregivers plus adult volunteers from our church family. This nursery gives parents the choice of attending any of our three worship services or an adult Sunday School class. In addition, a nursery/childcare is provided during the 11:00 worship service for children ages 2-4 years old.

Children’s ministries at Mt. Zion provide a variety of events to help children of all ages to grow in their faith in God. The events are designed to be fun and to give children opportunities to be in ministry for Christ. Children and their families get to know others in their church family through movie nights, Advent workshops and Lenten and Easter events.  They are encouraged to share their faith (mobilizing disciples) through participating in various missions projects such as Operation Christmas Child, food collection for the Ada Jenkins Center, a mission project through VBS, shopping as a family to support the youth project, “Magical Mountain Christmas,” and giving some of their money for Heifer Project International. In June of 2010, the boys and girls in our 4th and 5th grade Sunday School class spearheaded the first Mt. Zion Stop Hunger Now event, which packaged 28,002 meals. We hope to make this an annual missions project for children and their families.

 
Each summer a Vacation Bible School presents children ages 3 years through 5th grade with an opportunity to experience truths about God and Jesus. Our exciting VBS is built around a theme and includes lively worship, dramatic Bible stories, crafts, music and refreshments, all designed to reinforce the Bible lesson of the day.
 
Elementary Children look forward to participating in a four-day, three night resident summer camp planned and staffed by Mt. Zion adults and youth. Elementary camp experiences are planned around a Biblical theme. The camp helps children, youth and adults experience being a family in Christ at Mt. Zion. We now offer a spring mini-camp (two days and one night) for children in Grades 1-5. We also have an intergenerational fall mini-camp for elementary children and their parents and siblings.
