International Missions

  • LITHUANIA MISSION TRIP - In the summer of 2008, a group of youth and adults from Mt. Zion UMC traveled to the country of Lithuania for a 10-day mission trip serving the people in the village of Pilviskiai at the Pilviskiai United Methodist Church.  We led a Vacation Bible School for the children in the mornings, Bible studies for youth and adults, visited home-bound community members and continued to build relationships with other Christians across the globe.  For more information, contact Rev. Tim Reimer by email or 704-892-8566.

  • SOUTH AFRICA MISSION TRIP - A trip was taken to South Africa in April 2011. On this mission trip we taught Bible Club, fed orphans, played with children, visited orphan families as we shared clothing and food, joined the mobile nurses clinic to help with tenant workers and presented the gospel to the unwed mothers group. This was a working trip but was highlighted with a day visit to Kruger National Park to see elephants, lions, rhinos, etc.  This was a life changing trip. It was an opportunity to love on orphans, to see how blessed we live in the United States and how little it takes to make a child smile who has nothing.  Please email Dana Bolch for more information.
  • UMCOR (UNITED METHODIST COMMITTEE ON RELIEF) - The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church.  UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States.  Their mission, grounded in the teachings of Jesus, is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster, with open hearts and minds to all people.  UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters that are interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own.  Every dollar you give to UMCOR goes to the program you designate.  UMCOR is 100% efficient. You can support this non-profit humanitarian aid organization by placing contributions marked “UMCOR” in the offering plate or sending them to the church office.  For more information, visit their website, new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/
  • VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION - Coordinated by the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, Volunteers in Mission travel to various international locations to help build churches and other needed facilities.  If you are interested in serving on an international building team or want more information, visit their website, www.wnccumc.org/vim/VIM.htm.

  • WORLD HUNGER - You can support the World Hunger fund by placing contributions marked “World Hunger” in the offering plate or sending them to the church office.
